Merry Christmas

Wishing all my readers out there a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Working on several projects right now. The platform game is among them, however right now due to the holiday festivities, not much progress is being made towards it at the moment. More to come later.

My wife finally provided me with some early animation frames for the player sprite, and I gotta say that I think it is looking great. Sure beats looking at a solid test rectangle!

Health displays

Just added the health meter and items for healing and increasing maximum health to the game. Spent a few hours teaching AS3 to someone, and played more Tales of Destiny II with my wife. Another decent day for sure. Time for sleeeep!

More framework

The framework for the game is coming along nicely. Added springboards and enemies, and completed the scene loader. Added score collectibles, and refined the behavioral systems.

Physics

Nailed down the projectile physics for our game. Man I had such a headache from the maths involved! Happy to see this thing coming together. In addition to the projectiles, I added parallax scrolling backgrounds to the mix. Finished off the day playing Assassin's Creed Revelations. Time to sleep!

Progress

Making some progress on our latest game! I hammered out the core platforming mechanics in a couple hours. Played some Tales of Destiny II with my wife, got our Christmas tree up, and watched a few Anime episodes. Great day!

New project

My wife and I got the wheels moving in our heads and spawned a wacky game idea to work on. No spoilers here though. All I will say is that a new platformer is in the works. Stay tuned.

Teaching

Today ..well yesterday since it is past midnight.. I have been teaching my wife the oh-so-fun art of computer programming. After 23 years of doing this myself, it is remarkably difficult to remember what is easy enough to teach someone who is just starting out in this crazy world filled with bits and bytes and variables and things. Having hit a brick wall with the first go, I'be started anew with the basics, and it appears like things will go better this round.

How Annoying

Okay so today I wake up feeling pretty decent. No pain..or so I thought. A sharp corner of a broken rear molar tooth is irritating the skin of my inner cheek now...how annoying!

Well that's a hell of a lot better than the ridiculous head pains that I've gone through this week. Let's see if I can manage to get anything done now that I can think straight again.

Stranger still

All day today I have felt like my head was inside a vice. No really being crushed by one, but just held between the sides of one... Odd for sure. A little dizzy too, so taking it easy. And now my wife is feeling similar pains and oddness. I sure would like to know what the help is going on with our health recently.

Relief

So last night the pain was beyond severe. I never felt so much pain before in my life! I was shaking violently going into shock from it all. Apparently I also had a fever. After about an hour it subsided, and I was able to rest up.
Woke up this morning and I feel almost normal. My head feels funny but no pain. Hopefully it does not return....

Oh the pain

Now two days of annoyingly painful headaches, which I first thought were toothaches..now I am not so sure. The pain seems to go away when I lay with the side of my face against a pillow, but comes back when I move- and with a vengeance.

I am really tired of this crappy. I want to get back to my life.
